Leader of the Pack Dog Obedience Training

About Our Mission

We believe that training is the foundations of building a trusting and positive relationship between owner and dog. We strive to provide as much training and information on per care as possible: how dogs think, general canine behavior, and how to be your dog’s best friend! We want each dog to have a smooth integration into your family and the community. Our goal is to make your dog a permanent member of your family!

Our Training Method

Here at Leader of the Pack Dog Training we prioritize fear-free and positive training for your dog. Positive training is a method used by many professional trainers that rewards your dog for good behaviors instead of punishing your dog for inappropriate ones. This method takes out many of the stresses and fears around training and will animate your dog to actively listen. A positive training environment will make learning engaging for your dog and result in them willingly wanting to train. They are more likely to respond well to training and to retain the new behaviors and skills they have learned in class. Training isn’t just telling your dog what to do, it is the practice of teaching your dog how to choose the appropriate behavior in different settings. One way we ensure this is by using the lure technique, when you use treats to lure your dog into the position you are looking for (such as sit) and then give them the treat as a reward for doing that. Another method we use is capturing a behavior. If you see your dog doing any good behavior, you reward them. Your dog will be more likely to choose the appropriate behavior without you directing them in the future. Our science based training program engages owners and their pets to result in consistent and appropriate behaviors in your dog.
